Book Description：
This book gives a full account of the development process for automotive transmissions. It seeks to impart lines of reasoning, demonstrate approaches, and provide comprehensive data for the practical tasks. Much of the content is concerned with aspects of technology and production that are of general validity, and hence of enduring relevance. But there is also a chapter describing various state-of-the-art production designs. The strong market dynamics in recent years is reflected in numerous new transmission types. Major lines of evolution treated in the book include the increasing use of electronics, light-weight construction, and the automation of manual gearboxes. Much of the expertise recorded springs from joint projects with German and international car and gear manufacturers.
