A breakout hit for HBO, Six Feet Under was created, co-written and executive produced by Alan Ball, who wrote the hit film American Beauty, winner of five Oscars® including Best Picture and Original Screenplay (Ball). Last year, the Producers Guild of America honored Ball and fellow SFU Executive Producers Alan Poul, Robert Greenblatt and David Janollari with the Norman Pelton Producer of the Year Award in Episodic Television - Drama.

Six Feet Under was nominated for two 2004 Golden Globes®, with Frances Conroy winning for Best Actress in a Television Series - Drama, and won two 2004 Screen Actors Guild Awards (Conroy and the ensemble cast). The show has received 32 Emmy® nominations and won seven times, and has been nominated for eight Golden Globes®, winning three.

掘地六尺（关于Six Feet Under 的介绍）

应该有个成语叫掘地三尺，意思大概是拼了名也得得到欲望所求的东西吧，好象LOTR中的GOLLUM的那种：“My Precious,My Precious”的劲头。但我现在要说的不是要比三尺还狠的挖到六尺，决不善罢甘休。我只是想说说最近迷恋的一个HBO电视剧，Six Feet Under。
这是一个从事殡葬业的家庭，从人死去后尸体的整容到遗体告别，到最后入土为安的一系列服务。而且除了不人不埋在他们的房子里外，整个过程都在这个家庭所居住的大房子中进行。这个家庭是The Fishers，这个Funeral Home的名字叫Fisher and Sons。
这个家庭的组成是这样的：
父亲Nathaniel Fisher，一家之主，但在整个故事中都是以别人的幻觉形式出现的。
母亲Ruth，一个有点神经质的中年妇女，显然，她一直尝试摆脱mid-age crisis，但还是被她的大儿子成为control freak。
大儿子Nate，一个痛恨家庭传统的人，他厌恶殡葬业与死人，但他终究是个渴望家庭的人。
二儿子David，我不得不说，他的全部故事是围绕着他的两个鲜明特点，一，同性恋；二，Control Freak（like his mother）。
小女儿Claire，典型的问题少女，但却又异常敏感，我喜欢这样的女孩。她们有天赋，往往有强烈的需求感，但却又不知道自己想要什么。

还有一些可爱的人，比如funeral home的整容大师Rico，Nate 的女友Brenda以及她的神经病弟弟，还有David 的爱人Keith，等等等等吧。

故事非常的简单，很少有大的波折，每集的开始伴随一个生命的陨落，来到The Fishers于地上的世界做最后的告别。但死亡总给人带来感悟，所以从每一集的最开始，我们就得跟着The Fishers感悟死亡与生活的一线之差。死亡的不但光临给这个家庭蒙上了少许阴影，尤其是在最开始，这几乎是个死寂的家庭，兄弟姐妹之间，父母与孩子之间，几乎失去了起码的交流，他们各自的生活也由于充满了不信任而非常的混乱，父亲的小屋，母亲的情人，两个儿子混乱的私生活，女儿对家庭的冷漠。。。但一切都随着父亲的意外而改变起来，于是故事便顺着家庭中剩下4人的生活的交织而进行了下去。

SFU中充满了黑色幽默，就拿人每一集开始，人的死法说吧，比如那个骗钱的，正在吹嘘他精明的骗术，结果一头扎进游泳池头破血流。还有那个喝醉酒的女人，头伸到车外，却被广告牌把脸拍成饼。还有那殡葬业连锁公司的那一男一女，正在边谈论怎么搞跨独立公司边打高尔夫，结果一球击中一老太太致死，最逗的是那老太太恰就送到了The Fishers家的独立殡葬公司，帮The Fishers大赚一笔。
剧集中的感情渗透也相当精彩，比如Fisher兄弟，Claire和Ruth 母女，以及brenda和她异常的弟弟billy间的感情都是对家庭感情的最真挚呼唤。
另外，我印象很深的有几个零散的特点，比如对父亲Nathaniel Fisher的出现，总是以人物的幻觉形式出现，通过人物与他的对话，从而巧妙的描述出了人物的心理状态，最精彩的就是NATE发现父亲的小屋后，出现的幻觉，各式各样，摇滚，女人，烟酒，狐朋狗友。。。清晰的反映了NATE的父亲的琢磨不透。再有就是镜头间的切换，非常新颖的采用了白屏，进行故事的过渡切换，我看的时候每次都有升上了天堂的感觉。非常美妙。还得提一句的就是Thomas Newman写的主题曲，很诡异的感觉，非常切合主题，异常喜欢！

这个电视剧精彩之处太多太多了，引发的思考更始前头万绪，不是三言两语就能说出个一二三的。我的水平到此为止了。。看来掘地六尺的思考是大大的必要，至少对这部电视剧来说是这样的。
